Booking Policy

Thank you for considering AMT services for your loved one! The fact that you have many choices is not lost on me and I greatly appreciate your trust.

That said, part of earning and keeping your trust means having protocols in place to keep all clients safe and to provide a smooth transaction process for everyone as well.

The best way to gift a service to someone is using online Gift Certificates! They’re printable and email-able, easy to claim and allows clients to book the service and appointment time they feel best meets their needs. They’re a wonderful surprise and a thoughtful gesture for almost any occasion!

What if you have an account and want to book for your loved one? Want to surprise them? Please purchase a Gift Certificate instead!

Does this loved one know about this session and are ok with you booking on their behalf? Please be sure to use THEIR existing account or create one for them to ensure that THEIR information (their name, phone number, their email, etc. Please Note: Using YOUR email will just revert the booking back to your account) is accurate when booking. This helps to avoid any misunderstandings and keeps everyone’s accounts accurate for health and financial records. Booking under your account for someone else could result in a cancellation and possible cancellation fee.

Why can’t I book under my account? Can’t you just update it later or at the time of appointment?

Booking a Massage Therapy session for a loved one is a lovely gesture but may cause confusion and disappointment for everyone involved. Let me explain.

For starters, let’s talk about health concerns. Most people don’t think of massage as harmful or dangerous. And for the most people it is perfectly safe! But for some people, their medical conditions may be contraindicated or require modification for massage. Let’s use diabetes as an example. Diabetes doesn’t automatically mean you can’t get a massage. If your blood glucose levels are stable and there are no signs of neuropathy, you should be fine. But if that’s not the case, neuropathy means you can’t do more than light pressure. That might be ok with some clients but a waste of time to others.

Another example would be blood pressure. If someone has untreated High Blood Pressure, massage is not a good idea at all. Pregnancy is the most common reason people book for loved ones. While I understand the need for massage during such a challenging time to a mom-to-be’s body, there are A LOT of things that can make massage unsafe for her. Gestational Diabetes, pre-eclampsia, mobility issues are just some of the concerns. Even something like getting a recent vaccination can affect your ability to receive massage.

So, how would I know if someone has a condition or not?

Well, that’s what the Client Intake Form is for. All new clients receive it once they book. It gives me a chance to review the client’s overall health and address any concerns before the actual appointment. Without this, a client might come in and have to be turned away once a discussion about health uncovers a contraindication. And that would be a disappointment and waste of everyone’s time and could mean a loss of your money, too. Client Intake forms also allow clients to tell me what they want to get out of their session, saving time for the actual hands-on service time. Another important aspect of the form is to make clear what my professional boundaries are from the beginning. If someone finds that they don’t want to adhere to those boundaries they have an opportunity to find a provider that better aligns with their needs before coming in and therefore allows you to get a refund or credit if needed.

As for me updating the information, yes, I absolutely can do that.

However, it is extra work for me. As you may know, my schedule is already limited to meet the demands of being a Special Needs mom, dog mom, and wife. Massaging is physically demanding on its own. That’s my problem, I suppose! Lol! But that’s why I worked so hard to have systems in place to make things as easy and efficient for you AND for me. When I have to update the information, I now have to contact you, get the correct information from you, create a new account, take the credit from your account, make the adjustment to the actual client’s account, and notify you that in doing this, you’re forfeiting your ability to receive a refund if needed. It’s tedious and it’s redundant for the both of us. It’s not saving anyone any time or effort, in fact it’s quite the opposite-plus the potential for losing money on your end. I don’t want that. If you’re having trouble booking your loved one, please text me and I will get back to you as soon as I can to help you. Otherwise, please follow my protocol for the best experience for everyone.

Thanks again for considering A Mother’s Touch Massage Therapy! I hope this information has helped you decide whether to purchase a Gift Certificate or to book a loved one directly with their account is best for your situation. I look forward to serving you.
